Responsibilities:
Performing thermal and computational fluid dynamics analysis for wind turbine cooling and thermal systems.
- An in-depth knowledge of the basics of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Solving complex technical problems using CFD tools.
- Collaborating with a diverse group of engineers in a global, team-based environment.
- Interpret CFD results, provide classical calculations to verify results, provide recommendations and develop modelling and calculation reports.
- Collaborate in the execution of the validation tests of the thermal conditioning system by defining the necessary test requirements and simulations.
- Develop tools for the analysis of the results of the functional validation of wind turbines in those aspects related to the turbines cooling & thermal system.
- Identification of potential improvements and development of cost effective and innovative technical solutions aimed at optimizing efficiency of the analysis and documentation procedures.
Main Tasks:
These are the main activities that will be developed in this position:

- An in-depth knowledge of the basics of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Experience in solving complex technical problems using CFD tools.
- Collaborating with a diverse group of engineers in a global, team-based environment.
- Interpret CFD results, provide classical calculations to verify results, provide recommendations and develop modeling and calculation reports.
- Collaborate in the execution of the validation tests of the thermal conditioning system by defining the necessary test requirements and simulations.
- Develop tools for the analysis of the results of the functional validation of wind turbines in those aspects related to the turbines cooling & thermal system.
- Identification of potential improvements and development of cost effective and innovative technical solutions.
- Analysis’s requirements and designs/adapts products and solutions accordingly.
Technical knowledge:
- Great knowledge and understanding of CFD Modeling of complex flow: heat transfer, turbulent flow, multi-phase flow etc..
- Proven experience on thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, cooling systems, etc. and related CFD Ansys tools:
- Modeling: Ansys-SpaceClaim (default) and Ansys-Discovery (good to have)
- Meshing tools: Ansys-Meshing (default) and Ansys-ICEM (good to have)
- Simulation: Ansys-Fluent (airflow simulations, thermal simulations and CHT models), Ansys-Fensap (good to have, for ice-modeling), Icepak-AEDT (good to have, for electromagnetism simulations).
- Basic Subject knowledge: Learn basic governing equations for fluid mechanics, heat transfer and flow physics, etc.
- Programming skills: C, C++, Python or MATLAB
- Numerical Methods: Finite difference method (FDM), finite volume methods (FVM) and their application on a variety of problems
- Advanced Programming Skills: geometry mesh interface, parallel computing, and post-processing.
- Validation of CFD results: Compare the CFD results with experimental data and well-established CFD tools. Excellent analytical skills.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
- Need to have experience with CFD tools in ANSYS Fluent framework.
- Good to have experience with CAD programs such as Siemens NX.
- Good to have experience developing SW tools for thermal modeling and data postprocessing.
- Good to have technical planning ability to define problems and create well-defined execution plans.
